Mathematicians call for AI-generated proofs to be labeled "exposition of a proof by Model X"

Mathematician Daniel Litt warns that the rush to put one's name on largely AI-generated, duplicative work is corrosive to the field, and that academia must find ways to incentivize higher marginal-value work. Investor Pravesh Kothari proposes: papers whose creative mathematical contributions are entirely due to an AI model should be positioned as "an exposition of a proof by Model X" — intellectually honest, value-adding, and an alternative to DDoS-ing arXiv with daily conjectures.
