Clarification on Anthropic protein design: Models used were Mythos and Opus 4.8
SimplyAnnisa · x · 2026-08-19
Addressing previous reports of Anthropic achieving a 22-35% hit rate in protein design (vs the usual 10-15%), the author clarifies that the work was done using Mythos Preview and Opus 4.8, not Opus 5. Additionally, Claude did not design the protein structures directly but drove existing open-source design and folding tools.
