Claude Opus 4.8 Drives Protein Design Tools at Expert Level
heypearlai · x · 2026-08-19
Tests reveal that Claude Opus 4.8, combined with Mythos Preview, can operate existing open-source protein design and folding tools at an expert level without inventing new methods. Opus 4.8 successfully cracked TNFα, a target that has stumped experts for years, while Mythos failed. However, on a separate target, all 90 designs returned with zero binders. Anthropic admits they do not yet know why.
