Real memory for AI agents: your vector DB is a graveyard, not memory

The author argues that what agents have today isn't memory but search: everything goes into a vector DB and the closest match gets retrieved later. It never notices contradictions, never forgets what changed, and slowly accumulates dead facts handed back as truth — as a viral X post put it, "your vector DB isn't memory, it's a graveyard. A graveyard with good lighting."
Memory, he argues, is a cycle: write, verify, consolidate, retrieve, forget. He built that layer on top of Actian VectorAI DB, fully local on his laptop. Told he was vegetarian, later that he now eats chicken, the system caught the contradiction, updated the fact and dropped the old one instead of keeping both.
