Indie dev ships EchoVault: record conversations now so family can "ask you" after you're gone
Emojinapp · reddit · 2026-08-19
An indie developer launched EchoVault, a digital legacy product: while alive, guided AI biographer sessions extract real memories, positions and reasoning to build your "Echo"; after you're gone, named custodians can talk to it, and it answers only from what you actually said, admitting when it doesn't know rather than inventing.
Business model: text is free with unlimited sessions; multimodal is paid, and every paid month banks a free month of family access after death; the Echo auto-transfers to custodians after a year of inactivity. The founder explicitly rejects the immortality framing — it's an archive with a conversational interface, not a person. Text, voice and real-time conversational video shipped together in June 2025, with iOS now live.
