Databricks competition winners share lessons: parsing unsolved, build on coding agents

A Stanford team that won Databricks' live competition at Data + AI Summit shared three lessons from building knowledge agents:
- Parsing is still not a 100% solved problem;
- Build on top of coding agents rather than complete alternatives;
- Custom verification pipelines remain critical in high-stakes settings (example at 7:10 in the video).
Databricks co-founder Matei Zaharia called it probably the first live competition for AI researchers and agents; winning teams came from Stanford, UMass Amherst and Yale.
