OpenAI President Greg Brockman announced that the company has paused some frontier Reinforcement Learning (RL) training. The move aims to ensure appropriate alignment, security, and monitoring standards are met as model capabilities advance rapidly. OpenAI emphasized that while industry-wide coordination on safety standards is believed to be necessary, it will act unilaterally in the meantime, stating that confidence in safety will increasingly set the pace of AI progress.
