An analysis of Reddit's 'favorite MCP' threads over the last year identified 163 distinct servers. 47 are missing from the official registry, mostly open-source GitHub projects or vendor-hosted remotes (e.g., MATLAB, Canva). The registry also shows high publisher concentration, where top publishers flood the index with API wrappers, burying official servers in search results.
