Vercel open sources fx: a tiny, fast native coding agent
Rasmic · x · 2026-08-19
Vercel Labs has open sourced 'fx', a lightweight, native coding agent harness written in Zig. Key features include extreme speed (10µs cold start, no runtime), a tiny footprint (6.3MiB binary, single-digit MB RAM), and an open architecture (Apache-2.0, model agnostic). It supports extension via Skills, plugins, and MCP, with a live WebAssembly demo available in the browser.
