The author evaluated the file-based memory paradigm used by Claude Code, Codex, Pi, and OpenClaw, concluding that recall degrades badly when the agent has a lot to remember.
They ended up building their own hybrid memory system and moved to an RL-based approach for long-term agentic tasks.
