Developers discuss Claude MCP agent code mode implementation

Developer steipete commented that in modern harnesses, code mode is no longer complex; CLI, MCP, and tools are essentially just JavaScript written by the agent. He noted that his 'mcporter' tool implemented relevant features earlier than 'agent-codemode', with the main difference being that it reads Claude Code's keychain tokens directly, skipping the auth step in about 300 lines of code. The author offered to submit the code as a PR to mcporter.
