Modular brings Qualcomm data-center AI accelerators into its stack: same code, new silicon
clattner_llvm · x · 2026-08-19
Following Qualcomm's acquisition of Modular, ModCon announced that Qualcomm's data-center AI accelerator roadmap — starting with Cloud AI 100 and extending to Dragonfly AI 200 — is integrated into the Modular Platform. The same MAX/Mojo code that runs on NVIDIA and AMD GPUs can now target Qualcomm silicon with no rewrites, marking the first ASIC (NPU) in the Modular stack.
Modular frames this as an early step toward a common software foundation spanning industry accelerators from edge to cloud, while Qualcomm highlights purpose-built inference silicon optimized for performance per dollar per watt.
