Optics Scaling Slower Than Expected Due to Manufacturing Challenges
BenBajarin · x · 2026-08-19
A new report from Diligence Stack argues that optical adoption will scale slower than market expectations. While architectures point to more optics per compute unit, manufacturing remains the bottleneck for NPO and CPO through at least 2028. The lack of standardization and the need for specialized co-design indicate an immature ecosystem. Qualified output, rather than demand, will anchor the timeline for increased optical attach rates.
