Meta proposes RPM model to cost-effectively filter high-value scientific experiments
aigclink · x · 2026-08-18
Meta proposes a model solution called RPM (Research Proposal Model) to address the issue where generating AI research proposals is cheap but validation is expensive. While AI can generate 100 experiment proposals in a minute, validating them takes time and resources. RPM uses a frozen LLM as a referee to act as a "topic advisor," helping decide which experiments are worth running. Tests show that an AI research agent equipped with RPM achieved the original performance of 24 hours in just 15 hours with less than 2/3 of the compute budget.
