US ban requires 65% US-made robot parts, stranding startups

The FCC added "advanced robotic devices" to its covered list, mandating that new models be assembled in the US with at least 65% domestic component value by cost (rising to 75% in 2029). Aimed at national security and reducing reliance on foreign supply chains (notably China), the policy is stranding US startups as domestic alternatives don't exist yet. Founders describe the requirements as nearly impossible to meet, though some hope it will eventually shield them from cheaper Chinese competition.
