Making a Music Video with MiniMax H3: Steps Matter More Than Resolution
FreeTheClanks · reddit · 2026-08-18
A video-generation beginner shares their second music video attempt with MiniMax H3 on an RTX 5080 laptop: default ref2vid workflow + comfy kitchen attention + H3 FirstBlockCache node (safe), 0.5mp at 30 steps, int8.
Practical findings:
- Turbo LoRAs, spectrum, and the hybrid model either degraded quality or didn't meaningfully cut render time.
- Steps matter more than resolution for legibility — low-step outputs looked bad, so stepping up beats raising resolution.
- Generation time doesn't scale linearly: keep clips at 5 seconds or less; longer clips carry a big time penalty. References (images/audio) also cost time, so be selective.
- Lip-sync issues came from not trimming audio references tightly enough, fixed with slight shifts in the edit.
