Users report ChatGPT is swearing more after model update
gaganghotra_ · x · 2026-08-18
Users have noticed a significant uptick in ChatGPT using profanity, such as dropping f-bombs in recipes and using the word "shitfit" to describe GitHub outages. This trend roughly aligns with OpenAI's switch of the default model for free users from GPT-5.5 to GPT-5.6 Luna. While OpenAI declined to comment, the increase in cursing may be linked to efforts to make the model more lifelike and personable, or potentially the model mimicking user input styles.
