Distilling Experience into SKILL.md Beats Fuller Agent Memory by 6 Points
eyishazyer · x · 2026-08-18
Discussion of an agent memory study. Researchers gave agents the same past trajectories in two forms:
- Workflow Memory, which keeps more execution detail
- A distilled SKILL.md file
The SKILL.md version performed 6.06 percentage points better. The agent wasn't getting more experience — messy past experience was being turned into a clean procedure the agent can follow.
The commenter's takeaway: better packaging of experience can outperform simply giving agents more memory.
