Nous Research open-sources Hermes Agent: a cross-platform, self-growing desktop agent
aigclink · x · 2026-08-18
Nous Research has released Hermes Agent, an open-source (MIT) desktop app billed as "the agent that grows with you." It connects to Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp, Signal, email and CLI, sharing one memory across every surface.
Key features: persistent memory that learns your projects, auto-generates skills and remembers past solutions; natural-language scheduling for unattended reports, backups and briefings; isolated subagents with their own conversations, terminals and Python RPC scripts for zero-context-cost pipelines; web search, browser automation, vision, image generation, TTS and multi-model reasoning; and five sandboxing backends (local, Docker, SSH, Singularity, Modal) with container hardening and namespace isolation. Available on macOS, Windows and Linux via a one-line curl install.
