"Writing is thinking": Educators alarmed as up to 90% of students use AI

Legal scholar Orin Kerr reshared a NYT piece by Dana Goldstein, arguing that writing is thinking — outsourcing writing to AI means outsourcing much of the thinking. The report cites that between two-thirds and 90% of high school and college students already use AI for schoolwork, and a growing number of educators are alarmed, insisting students should write without AI.
