Anthropic's Annualized Revenue Hits $65B, Surpassing OpenAI Ahead of Mega IPO

Bloomberg reports Anthropic disclosed to investors an annualized revenue run rate of $65B as of end of July—up from just over $9B at the end of 2025 and $47B in May, a 38% jump in two months. Its latest completed quarter booked preliminary revenue over $11.5B, roughly 14.6x the $787M a year earlier, and adjusted operating profit turned positive—rare operating leverage for a frontier lab still spending heavily on compute.
The key driver is enterprise adoption of Claude Code and coding agents: long-running software engineering agents consume far more tokens than one-off chats, making Anthropic the clearest beneficiary of the agentic shift. For comparison, OpenAI's run rate recently passed $40B, though metrics may not be directly comparable. Per the Financial Times, investors expect an IPO as soon as October at a $2T+ valuation, which would make it the largest IPO ever, surpassing SpaceX. Despite a two-week government-mandated suspension of Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 in June, growth has continued.
