According to X user @kimmonismus (unverified): Anthropic's Mythos 2 is done training, but Anthropic currently has no plans to release it. The internal loop building Mythos 3 hasn't stopped, and the focus is now on internal improvements, with no clear release timeline.
The poster speculates one reason is to prevent Chinese companies from distilling it, and argues that despite the hype around GPT 5.6 Sol, Claude Fable 5 remains the most intelligent publicly released model — Anthropic may only release a better model if/when OpenAI ships one clearly smarter than Fable 5: no need to step on the gas while you're ahead.
