YC-backed LATO uses voice agents to do PE due diligence in days, not weeks
ycombinator · x · 2026-08-18
YC-backed LATO AI has launched, aiming to change how investments are made. Its first focus is commercial due diligence (CDD): PE firms today pay $500K for a McKinsey report that takes weeks; 36K CDDs were done in 2025, roughly $18B spent a year.
Based on 200+ expert calls and multiple studies run by its agents over the past four weeks, the team claims: voice agents do better expert calls than humans, and research agents find and synthesize more relevant information systematically. LATO's voice agents interview hundreds of verified experts in any language, combine that with thousands of public and proprietary documents, and deliver a full study in hours — including a live market simulation for running arbitrary scenarios — at a fraction of the cost. Leading funds are already using it.
