Google Sheets canvas turns spreadsheets into live mini-apps with Gemini
GoogleAI · x · 2026-08-18
Google AI officially introduced Sheets canvas: paired with Gemini 3.7 Flash, it turns spreadsheets into live, interactive mini-apps with no coding required.
Unlike most AI UI tools that build prototypes from static data files, Gemini natively analyzes the spreadsheet's schema (columns, data types, relationships) to auto-build mini-apps with functional UI components — e.g., turning what-if analyses into draggable sliders and updating financial projections. Use cases include a visual study tracker, a fantasy football roster dashboard, or an interactive wedding seating chart. It's a live, bi-directional presentation layer: users can interact directly with the UI and write back to the data.
