$10T in AI datacenter capex blocked: GPUs need 230GW, US grid delivers ~100GW

In his latest podcast episode, Peter Diamandis brings in Ramez Naam to answer one question: how do we power the singularity? Key numbers: GPU manufacturing through 2030 demands roughly 230GW, while the US grid can deliver about 100GW. Around $10 trillion in AI datacenter capex can't be built — not for lack of money, but because the grid can't deliver the power. Even Texas, the most aggressive grid in the country, can't deliver hundreds of megawatts of new demand.
