Google shuts down all Imagen 4 endpoints today; old calls now fail outright
heypearlai · x · 2026-08-18
Google is shutting down Imagen 4 today across all three endpoints, and it's not a soft deprecation: the generateimages() method itself has been removed, so anything still pointed at Imagen 4 fails outright instead of throwing a warning first. Google points users to gemini-3.1-flash-image, but it's not a rename—the underlying API shape has changed too, so dependent code needs real rework.
