Claude Code will run auto mode by default for Pro, Max, and Team plans

Starting August 14, new Claude Code sessions on Pro, Max, and Team plans will run in auto mode by default, enabling longer autonomous work. Anthropic says the auto-mode classifier catches more dangerous commands than manual review in testing, and classifier token overhead is no longer charged to these users.
Enterprise, API, and cloud platform deployments remain opt-in for now while admins review; defaults will roll out across cloud partners within a month. Users with a pinned default are unaffected.
