New research: are LLM agents time-aware? Can they estimate task duration?

Researcher Maksym Andriushchenko announced a new blog post, "Are LLM agents time-aware?", studying whether agents can predict the wall-clock time of tasks and estimate time they've already spent. Experiments span a range of tasks including long-horizon benchmarks like ProgramBench, PaperBench and DeepSWE. The work is joint with his MATS mentee @MOfengenden. In a follow-up, he notes time awareness is an essential skill for a digital worker and a key part of broader situational awareness; a LessWrong post accompanies the paper.
