Ex-DeepMind safety lead: likely a reorg, not "no longer has a team"

AI safety researcher Seán Ó hÉigeartaigh responded to reporting that a company "no longer has a team" for risks ahead, saying the reality is unlikely as implied — more likely units are being reorganised, which happens routinely in fast-moving organizations with staff turnover. He notes the company clearly still has many people working on future risks, though that doesn't mean there are enough of them or that they're sufficiently empowered — and in his view almost no company has either.
