Patrick Collison: Agentic coding tools shouldn't default to terminal UI
soumitrashukla9 · x · 2026-08-18
Patrick Collison argues that while agentic coding harnesses are great, they shouldn't be primarily terminal-based due to low information density and minimal UI affordances. He notes it took a long time for REPLs to break out of the terminal (e.g., Jupyter) and hopes agent tools won't take as long to adopt better interaction models.
