A 404 Media investigation revealed that Amazon is buying massive quantities of rare books, scanning them for AI training data, and destroying them in the process. Reporters tracked a shipment using an AirTag, discovering it ended at a secretive Amazon facility in Las Vegas (codenamed VGT3) dedicated to book scanning and destruction.
