OpenAI inks Pike County, Ohio data center deal with SB Energy, NVIDIA, DOE

OpenAI officially announced an agreement to use capacity at the PORTS-Pike Technology Data Center in Pike County, Ohio, working with SB Energy, NVIDIA, and the U.S. Department of Energy.
Key commitments:
- SB Energy will pay the full cost of all grid upgrades and new transmission lines, so costs aren't shifted to Ohio ratepayers.
- The data center will use closed-loop, air-cooled systems that recirculate water instead of continuously consuming cooling-tower water — expected to use significantly less water than the site's historic Portsmouth gaseous diffusion plant.
- The project is expected to create 35,000 construction jobs (post truncated).
