UBS Roadmap: Optical Tech Shifts to CPO in 2026, Fully Optical Clusters by 2030
BenBajarin · x · 2026-08-17
Citing a UBS report, Ben Bajarin notes the shift in optical interconnect adoption from NPO towards CPO and eventually fully optical AI clusters. The roadmap includes NPO at 200G/lane for 2026-27, CPO switches at 400G/lane from 2026-29, on-die photonics later, and potentially fully optical AI clusters from 2030 onwards. Bajarin advises managing expectations due to unpredictable variables in the optics sector.
