AI Economy Run Rate Hits $210B; Enterprise Spend on Top Models Plateaus
Exponential View (Azeem Azhar) · rss · 2026-08-17
Exponential View released its latest AI economy report, noting that revenues in July tripled year-over-year, bringing the annualized run rate to over $210 billion. The top 10% of companies using OpenAI products consume 8.3x more tokens than typical firms. However, token usage for top-tier models (Fable 5) has flattened, accounting for only 6% of tokens and 11% of spend, suggesting businesses have hit a ceiling on willingness to pay. Additionally, Bank of America projects the server CPU market will grow from $61B in 2026 to $211B in 2030 (36% CAGR) as agentic workflows shift the CPU-to-GPU ratio towards parity.
