FireSat satellites use AI to detect wildfires every 20 minutes globally
nordicinst · x · 2026-08-17
SpaceX launched the first three FireSat satellites, the beginning of a 50-satellite network designed to detect wildfires while they are still small enough to stop. Using infrared sensors and AI, the system identifies heat signals and will scan every point on Earth about every 20 minutes, aiming to help firefighters extinguish blazes before they spread.
