Workers' income drops only 5% after occupation shrinks 25%
paulnovosad · x · 2026-08-17
A study across the US, Norway, and Sweden found that when an occupation shrinks by more than 25% in a year, workers' total earnings decrease by only about 5% over the next 20 years.
This is an optimistic finding, suggesting that most workers can adjust quite well without suffering severe long-term income losses from industry decline.
