A French user proposed a wild project: transplant the electronics of a 2026 MacBook Neo with its A18 Pro into the chassis of a 2017 12-inch Retina MacBook (920g, 13.1mm, fanless) — building the Apple Silicon 12-inch MacBook Apple never made. He argues the Neo is a surprisingly suitable donor: compact logic board, passive cooling, USB-C on separate boards, native macOS support; on paper it works. A YouTuber with 195K subscribers offered exposure to help push it forward.
