Study: Adding relevant skills can harm LLM agent performance

A new empirical study analyzes skill-induced failures in LLM agents. Controlling for model and framework, it found that even relevant skills can degrade performance. Out of 307 failures, issues stemmed mainly from implementation faults and efficiency regressions due to extra procedures, suggesting skills should be validated against no-skill baselines.
