Guangdong pushes to retain AI talent as Beijing and Shanghai lead firm count

Despite producing Moonshot founder Yang Zhilin and DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng, Guangdong province has struggled to retain top AI talent. Beijing now hosts 19 of China's top 50 AI companies, Shanghai has 14, while Guangzhou and Shenzhen hold just 10 combined. Local authorities are initiating programs to attract talent from Beijing to bridge the gap.
