Patrick Collison: Terminal is not the best default UI for agentic coding

Stripe co-founder Patrick Collison argues that while terminals are great for quick and precise commands, their low information density and minimal UI affordances make them poor default modalities for agentic coding harnesses. He hopes the industry won't have to wait as long as it did for dynamic language REPLs to evolve from terminals to Jupyter notebooks.
