Starlink V3 offers 10x speed boost, plans for 100k+ satellite network
XFreeze · x · 2026-08-16
Elon Musk revealed a vision where Starlink will eventually carry the majority of internet traffic. With over 10,900 satellites currently operational, the upcoming V3 iteration promises up to 1 Tbps downlink speeds—a 10x increase. The roadmap includes deploying over 100,000 V3/V4/V5 satellites for broadband and direct-to-phone connectivity. The plan also layers "Starmind" for orbital computing, beaming results back via laser links, effectively transforming Starlink into a planetary network for internet, coverage, emergency infrastructure, and compute backhaul.
