Delip Rao calls Anthropic's disease cure claim 'unfalsifiable bullshit' and offers a bet
deliprao · x · 2026-08-16
Delip Rao publicly criticized Anthropic's claim that 'AI could cure most diseases in 5-10 years,' labeling it as typical unfalsifiable bullshit. He offered a bet: if this happens, he will eat a hat. He quantified 'most diseases' to include non-communicable diseases (cardiovascular, cancer, etc.) and major infectious diseases, which account for around 60% of global deaths. He suggested using GBD estimates for settling the bet.
