Physician adoption of AI tools nearly doubled in 2024, from 38% to 68%. The AMA frames AI as "augmented intelligence" meant to assist rather than replace clinicians. Clinical decision-making must still lie with clinicians, said Margaret Lozovatsky, the AMA's chief medical information officer—AI simply enhances their ability to decide.
