Short Timelines Are an Excuse for Lack of Courage

Richard Ngo argues that using short AI timelines to justify short-term research is flawed. Given that legions of AIs will soon assist us, we should pursue research agendas that intuitively seem to require decades. He suggests the real bottleneck for long-term thinking is courage.
