Using Codex to Remake a 1987 Classic Text Adventure
emollick · x · 2026-08-16
Ethan Mollik shared a project where he used Codex to adapt Infocom's 1987 word game 'Nord and Bert Couldn't Make Head or Tail of It'. The AI reimplemented seven chapters as connected graphical mini-games, preserving the original puzzles while generating new assets and UX via AI. The workflow involved remotely controlling Codex from a phone via ChatGPT. The code is open-sourced on GitHub.
