Anthropic Watermark FAQ: No Quality Impact, Untraceable
burny_tech · x · 2026-08-16
Anthropic released an FAQ addressing questions about text watermarking:
- Compliance: Implementing watermarking to comply with the EU AI Act; other major developers will follow.
- No Impact: The method has no practical impact on Claude's output quality or content.
- Indistinguishable: The difference between watermarked and un-watermarked text is not detectable to readers.
- No Overhead: No extra tokens required and no additional cost.
- Untraceable: Watermarks cannot be traced to a specific person, organization, or chat.
- Robustness: Remains effective against mild attacks.
