Anthropic to embed invisible watermarks in all new Claude text, starting Aug 2026

Anthropic announced that new Claude models launched on or after August 2, 2026 will embed invisible watermarks in all generated text. The watermark is part of the text itself, not metadata, and will persist through copying and some editing. This is part of the EU AI Act code Anthropic signed, with rollout worldwide. The company is still working on adding it to current models.
