A developer shared their experience downgrading from Claude Opus 5 back to Opus 4.6. Despite Opus 5's superior benchmark scores, the user found its output cryptic and phrasing weird in Claude Code, whereas Opus 4.6 was much more coherent. The struggle with Opus 5 was severe enough that they considered switching to ChatGPT.
