OpenAI Desktop Update Bug Causes System-Wide Cursor Stutter
DrahcirHere · ghdev · 2026-08-15
Users report a severe performance regression in the OpenAI desktop app (Codex) after updating to version 26.810.6296.0. Even under light workloads with no active generation tasks, the ChatGPT.exe process consumes around 150% CPU, causing system-wide mouse cursor stuttering and freezing. The issue affects general Windows fluidity and persists after a reboot, unlike previous versions.
