Google makes visible AI watermarks optional in Gemini and Flow
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-08-15
Google is updating its watermarking policy across Gemini and Flow: users can now toggle off visible watermarks on AI-generated media (images via Nano Banana, videos via Omni, and music via Lyria). However, invisible provenance signals like SynthID and C2PA metadata remain attached. This ensures Google can still identify the content as AI-generated even when the visible mark is removed, as SynthID is designed to survive resizing, compression, and other edits.
